2020 Un-Gala

The Heartbeat 2020 Un-Gala

These are certainly unprecedented times in which we are living, for all of us…but especially our low-income senior homeowners.  In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, Hearts for Homes continues caring for our low-income senior homeowners who definitely fall within an at-risk population.  We are limiting our repairs at this time to emergency home repairs and outside maintenance items to limit exposure for our seniors.  In addition, we have been delivering food, toilet paper, wipes, paper towels, hand soap, dishwashing soap, and other supplies to our seniors because we want them to stay home.

Our first and largest fundraiser each year is the Heartbeat Testimonial Dinner in June, which is a lot of fun and usually generates over $35,000 to go towards our mission of improving the living conditions of low-income senior homeowners.  However, in light of the pandemic, we have chosen to cancel the Heartbeat 2020 and instead host an online UN-GALA, with the theme of There’s No Place Like Home.  That means you don’t have to get dressed up to attend…you can attend from the comfort of your home!

It’s times like these when we realize there’s no place like home to offer us safety and comfort.  That’s exactly what Hearts for Homes tries to do for each and every senior homeowner we serve.  It is our goal that each of them has a home that is safe, well-functioning and comfortable in which to age in place with dignity and hope.  After all, doesn’t everyone deserve that?

Psalm 91 has been a bedrock scripture in my life, especially verses 1 and 2…Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”  Even though uncertain and scary times, we are trusting in God to take care of our seniors, Hearts for Homes, our supporters, our volunteers and our staff.  Our God is a big God, and I believe we will come out of this crisis even stronger on the other side.

Please take a moment to look at the various giving levels.  We would ask that each of you prayerfully consider how you can help during this challenging time.  A gift of any size can go a long way to support the work of Hearts for Homes.

Thank you for your continued and faithful support of Hearts for Homes.  You are a blessing.
