It takes an army of volunteers to accomplish the mission of Hearts for Homes. If you are looking for a meaningful way to engage in improving the lives of low-income senior homeowners in Denton County, we could use your time and talents in a variety of ways. Complete a Volunteer Application to be added to our database and get notifications of upcoming volunteer needs.
- Volunteer on home repair projects.
- Provide lunch for work days.
- Donate funds or gift cards to Lowes or Home Depot to support purchase of building materials.
- Adopt an entire project.
- Lend a hand in the office.
- Promote Hearts for Homes mission and needs with your church.
- Host a fundraiser for us with your business, church, civic organization or school.
- Link Hearts for Homes information to your website or on social media.
- Take the $25 Challenge pledging $25 per month in support of Hearts for Homes.
- Join the Prayer Team to intercede for Hearts for Homes and our sweet seniors.
- Join a committee.
JOIN A COMMITTEE
All committees ask for a minimum one-year commitment.
Case Management Committee –
- Responsible for screening and interviewing homeowner applicants
- Meet on a monthly basis to review and approved homeowner applications to forward to Project Management Committee
- Maintain contact with homeowers before, during and after project completion
- Invite homeowners to Heartbeat Testimonial Dinner
- Responsible for Christmas Baskets for homeowners
- Solicit donations
- Organize basket assembly and delivery
Finance Committee –
- Develop and recommend all financial and accounting policies and procedures
- Prepare and recommend annual budget
- Monitor implementation of the budget
- Oversee all financial aspects of the organization
Project Management Committee –
- Investigate and assign priority for repairs needed on approved applications
- Prepare budget and volunteer needs for all planned projects
- Plan & schedule all homeowner projects
- Prepare and implement Safety Program
- Secure building permits as required
- Maintain materials inventory and purchase materials as needed
- Purchase and maintain equipment including trucks, trailers and tools
- Assign Project Supervisor and monitor activities including reporting to Executive Committee
- Oversee Warehouse Management and materials inventory
Resource Development Committee
Marketing, Fundraising, and Public Relations Sub-Committee –
- Develop and implement marketing program
- Control all print and social media
- Responsible for all facets of fundraising
- Solicit donors, volunteers and contributors
- Grant research and writing
- Responsible for Special Events
- Heartbeat Testimonial Dinner (June 12, 2016)
- North Texas Giving Day (September 22, 2016)
- Annual Charity Golf Tournament (October 10, 2016)
Volunteer Coordination & Human Relations Sub-Committee –
- Recruit, organize, train and assign volunteers
- Coordinate with Project Management Committee to supply volunteers for work days
- Establish personnel handbook and guidelines and present to the Executive Committee
- Conduct background checks on volunteers and employees as directed by Executive Committee
